The United Kingdom is a major videogames hub, with many developing studios being based in the region. There has been an outcry from the UK gaming industry for sometime now requesting tax breaks which would be beneficial to the industry there.
Yesterday it was announced that the industry was to receive tax breaks which was praised by UK industry veterans. Develop-online report that the games commissioner for broadcaster Channel 4 was one such person who says the UK tax breaks will allow the organisation to offer more work to UK studios.
“This is great news for the country’s games industry, and in terms of Channel 4, it will help keep, and create more talented UK development studios for us to give commissions to,” Colin MacDonald told Develop.
Develop-online also report that Channel 4 has previously supported the UK industry by commissioning numerous games from UK indie studios.
