Not quite the busiest week to pass in SA gaming, but if we kept racing along we’d run out of gas quickly.
Trenchtown
On Saturday 26 April, Gears of War 3 is getting a revisit with a ‘Wingman’ tournament. Entry is free, and there are cash prizes. Details can be found here. The event also incorporates the SA Gamer forum meetup, a market and a charity drive. There will also be free-to-play games available.
But the Trenchtown fun doesn’t stop there. To celebrate the one year anniversary of the Trenchtown tournaments, on 31 May Black Ops 2 will make a return. The event will be a 2v2 tournament, and details will follow.
FIFA players, you haven’t been forgotten. On 10 June, it’s your turn. Details to follow, but it’s close to the World Cup, so take that as a hint.
Orena
If you think Orena have been a little quiet after their March activities, fear not, as they are planning a return soon. The website will be getting a “slight facelift” over the next two weeks. That will be followed by a “new set of tournaments which we estimate will take place from the end of May to the end of July!”

SAGL
SAGL – or South African Gaming League – has appeared on the local competitive scene. The organisation is planning a 24-team Call of Duty Ghosts League which will be an online one that plans to run for between one and two months. No other details (start dates, prizes, etc.) are available yet but teams interested can DM @SAGLeague to show your interest. Currently, there are 15 teams keen to take part, but as always sponsors appear loathe to jump on board.
