Konami are confident that PES 2013 can  compete with Fifa 13 this year.

Speaking with MCV [as cited by Videogamer], PR and marketing boss Brian Ayers says:

“This is the year where press is openly talking about PES being back to its best.”

Ayers did however caution the fact that the game is being launched in a difficult release period, and so he believes the game’s success shouldn’t be judged on week one sales.

“We think PES 2013 is going to be in it for the long-haul, especially in terms of the total lifetime sales as recommendations are passed on as people play the game”

“There’s a very strong buzz out there, and press reaction has been both widespread and positive. This is feeding through to retail that PES is a true title contender, so we are confident this is a new beginning for the series.”

Zombiegamer has played both the Fifa 13 and the PES 2012 demos, and we must say, Konami’s confidence is well within reason regarding the game.

Konami has introduced ‘Total Player Control’ and more importantly a manual-passing system that works extremely well and stands out amongst the other improvements. Players can hold in button and direct their through-ball in whichever they choose. This feature alone opens up the possibilities of the passing play, and therefore gives the player more control than we have seen before.
