Dublin, Ireland – August 30th, 2011 – Veteran television composer Mick Kiely (ITV, RTE) has created the original music score for Codemasters’ upcoming intense arcade-style shooter game BODYCOUNT. Kiely was selected by Codemasters to create the hybrid soundtrack incorporating an ’80s arcade aesthetic. Set to make gamers fall in love with firepower, BODYCOUNT ups the ante for no-nonsense shooter fun as players shred through the game world with their bullets and spectacularly blow enemies through walls. Developed by Codemasters’ Guildford Studio, BODYCOUNT will be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 2nd, 2011.

Kiely’s hybrid music score for BODYCOUNT blends orchestra and ethnic instrumentation while maintaining the game’s near-futuristic and arcade vibe with modern electronic music elements. To ensure an authentic, immersive musical experience, the Irish composer recorded with a world-class 60-piece string section, live Asian wind instruments and African battle rhythms performed by native tribes in Ghana.

James Slavin, Lead Audio Designer for BODYCOUNT at Codemasters Guildford: “It has been an absolute pleasure working with composer Mick Kiely on this project. His inventive melodic ideas mixed with the care and attention to instrumentation and structure has created something unique that lifts the game and adds wonderful colour to the overall soundtrack.”

Composer Mick Kiely: “BODYCOUNT was an awesome project to work on. Codemasters’ vision for the game was inspiring from day one.  It was a lot of fun to be involved in and the magic of breathing life into the game’s characters and gameplay gave me endless pleasure. The fusing of settings was a good call by the team at Codemasters’ Guilford studio and definitely gave the score an edge.”

Ensnared in a clandestine global power struggle that rages under the cover of conventional war zones in Africa and Asia, players must eliminate a relentlessly evil enemy known only as ‘The Target’ on behalf of the ‘Network’. After being dropped into chaotic areas of operations, players will employ contemporary firearms to tear through environments, enemies, and earning power ups. Complemented by co-operative and multiplayer modes, BODYCOUNT aims to set new standards for intense, outrageous arcade action and put the fun back into the FPS genre.
