White Rabbit Gaming are making the news pretty regularly at the moment. Usually the MGO is being discussed and covered about all things Dota 2, but not this time.
Nope, today we’re talking White Rabbit Gaming and Call of Duty. Yes, White Rabbit Gaming has added a console Call of Duty team to their ranks following on from similar additions by other MGOs including Bravado Gaming and Energy eSports.
White Rabbit Gaming have signed Galaxy 5 – “a young and very talented team of individuals” – who have been making some waves with some notable victories in recent times.
The decision to add a console team to the White Rabbit Gaming roster has been a plan for a while for the MGO’s Alwyn Venter who said:
…with the events unfolding at rAge last year [We assume he is referring to MAG Cup – Undead Ed], it just peaked our interest even further. The console market is almost completely untapped in South Africa with more households having access to less expensive hardware when compared to PC gaming. This opens a massive opportunity for White Rabbit Gaming to help grow esports further and get more people involved as the barriers of participation are reduced.
The White Rabbit Gaming Call of Duty team consists of the following members:
- Max “Koala” Lipawsky (Captain)
- Reuben “Scara” Lipawsky
- Mohammed “Swiftyy” Asmal
- Adam “Blizzard” Behrman
- Aidan “Zero” Urquhart (Manager / Reserve)

Johannesburg, 29 May 2017
At the start of 2017, White Rabbit Gaming announced that it had some major plans and announcements coming up throughout 2017. The first of these announcements is the expansion of the brand into the console scene with the acquisition of Galaxy 5, a young and very talented team of individuals competing in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
Alwyn Venter, Managing Director of White Rabbit Gaming explains why the brand decided to venture into this market. “We’ve had our eye on the console scene for quite some time now and, with the events unfolding at rAge last year, it just peaked our interest even further. The console market is almost completely untapped in South Africa with more households having access to less expensive hardware when compared to PC gaming. This opens a massive opportunity for White Rabbit Gaming to help grow esports further and get more people involved as the barriers of participation are reduced.”
The expansion into the console scene opens up a whole new area of business for White Rabbit Gaming as multiple events have set their sights on this market. When asked for their thoughts on joining White Rabbit Gaming, Aidan Urquhart, team manager for Galaxy 5, had the following to say: “It is an absolute honor to be able to represent such a prestigious brand as White Rabbit Gaming. The team is young and every single player has that incredible desire and passion to be the best, in recent weeks we have shown that we are capable of hanging with the best teams in the country and going forward we look to solidify our position up there. We are grateful to White Rabbit Gaming for this incredible opportunity and are confident in our abilities to perform and live up to the high standard which this organisation characterised by.” said Urquhart.
Even though the team consists of young players, they have had some incredible results over the past couple of months, having beaten many of the major MGOs in the gaming scene. When asked about recruiting its youngest team so far, Venter had the following to add:” “Like we usually do, we scouted out the scene and with the help of Nick Holden, identified some teams who drew some attention and decided on Galaxy 5. We had multiple discussions with the captain, manager and also parents to ensure we have a team with the growth potential and passion we see in all our players. The best part of the team is that many of the players come from competitive backgrounds, having played for other major MGOs before which gives them a great balance of experience and a new vision for success. We are delighted that we can be part of this journey with them.”
The players are just as keen to represent the organisation as Max Lipawsky held back no emotion as he added his thoughts on joining the MGO.
“We are super amped to be representing the White Rabbit Gaming brand in Call of Duty. I have high hopes in our roster as we put a lot of time into improving as a team. We all have the hunger to be the best and that’s what we strive for. We see the potential in one another and know that if we carry on practicing like we are doing at this point in time, I have no doubt that we’ll come out top. I think our strength is our consistency in each of our game modes as we don’t necessarily have one game mode that we don’t perform on. Moving forward I see us improving as a team but also individually, as players.” said Max Lipawsky, team captain of Galaxy 5.
The lineup for the WRG Call of Duty team will be as follows:
Max “Koala” Lipawsky (Captain)
Reuben “Scara” Lipawsky
Mohammed “Swiftyy” Asmal
Adam “Blizzard” Behrman
Aidan “Zero” Urquhart (Manager / Reserve)
As a brand, we welcome the team to the WRG family and look forward to some great games ahead. The team will be playing their first match as WRG later tonight as they take on Vinco Gaming in the VS Gaming Ruby ProvingGround Final.
Good luck gents and welcome on board!
