The news spread like wildfire last month when Sony told Eurogamer that part of Studio Liverpool – the team that brought us the WipEout games – was to close.

Studio Liverpool bid a tearful farewell to WipEout after helping PlayStation achieve mainstream success.

The studio updated the WipEout 2048 Facebook page writing:

“We have loved making every game, every minute and every one of you. Keep the faith, keep loving WipEout.

“Thank you for everything, Pilots. It’s been an amazing journey and we’ll miss you. X”

The WipEout 2048 twitter feed now reads:

“WE. ARE. ALIVE.”
