The French conglomerate Ubisoft is reportedly one of the front-runners in the bid to buy THQ’s assets.
MCV have learnt that Ubisoft is seeking to take over THQ’s brands and studios once THQ works through its current financial problems. THQ filed for bankruptcy earlier this week after several months of speculation. The publisher handed its tangible assets over to an investment firm with the hope of selling the business’ on.
Ubisoft is apparently after a bargain and is willing hold-out until THQ is forced to sell off specific assets.
MCV note that if Ubisoft succeed in the overall acquisition, it would gain the rights to brands such as Saints Row, Company of Heroes, Darksiders, Homefront and Red Faction.
Ubisoft would also pick up the deals for games based on WWE and some Warhammer properties.
