Sony Pictures are reportedly doing a Twisted Metal movie and has penned a seven-figure deal with Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance co-director, Brian Taylor to write and direct a film. Deadline New York confirmed the news [as reported by Gamespot].
The Twisted Metal film will feature our favourite ‘twisted’ clown, Sweet Tooth as well as the masked Doll Face. The film will reportedly focus on an “underground event” that has a string of combatants clashing to the death in vehicles adorned with weapons. Calypso will co-ordinate the races and grant the victor any wish he chooses.
Brian Taylor (Director) is famed for co-directing the Crank movies and Gamer, and the Twisted Metal movie will be the first movie which he takes the lead director role.
Twisted Metal game developer, David Jaffe tweeted his comments:
“This just in: the recently announce [sic] Twisted Metal movie will contain no story. Because from what I hear, I hate stories. That is all :).” At last week’s D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas, Jaffe gave a presentation (embedded below) about why telling stories in games is a bad idea.
