Sony Hire Three Security Firms to Investigate Breach

Just days ago Sony announced that the Playstation Network suffered a second attack further adding to the disaster that left 77 million PSN accounts and 26 million SOE accounts vulnerable to hackers, and has seen the service offline for two weeks.

Reuters has now reported that Sony has now hired three outside security firms to investigate the PSN security breach. Amongst the three teams is Data Forte, a team led by a former U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service officer to work with FBI agents on the illegal activity.

Sony previously hired  cyber-security detectives from Guidance Software and consultants from Robert Half International Inc’s subsidiary Protiviti, after the firm discovered personal details, banking information, online passwords and identities were stolen.

Before announcing the second breach, Sony issued a statement promising  to PSN users that they working on amending the service and that some Network and Qriocity services would be back online this week.
