Weekend One (2 to 4 May)

Xtreme Gaming kicks the weekend off with their charity drive for The Children’s Hospital Trust. GT6 is the order of the weekend until 1pm on Sunday. A minimum donation of R50 is asked for, and you can compete for a PlayStation 3 bundle as well as other hampers. Blue Route Mall in Tokai is the place to be to support the cause. [More]

Free Comic Book Day is the big one on Saturday. You can head to Stadium on Main for all the comic and cosplay related action you could hope for. It’s free entry, and there’s free comics too. [More]

The zombies will be at Trenchtown on Saturday, but it’s casual gaming as part of the Obs Mini Fest which will feature bands throughout the day, as well as a market selling some unique items. [More]

Gaming World SA is running an online Call of Duty Ghosts tournament on 2 to 4 May. R200 entry fee per team, but we can’t find any information on prizes. We suggest emailing info@gamingworldsa.co.za for more details. Rulesets and other info can be found here.

Games On Gaming Lounge in Rondebosch kick off a busy May. On Saturday from 3pm you can join some of Cape Town’s best FIFA players in a FIFA 14 tournament. [More]

Bitmap eSports kicks off their Dota 2 online from 12pm on Saturday and sees the final scheduled for 8pm on Sunday night. [More]

Weekend Two (9 to 11 May)

Good Game Cafe in Gauteng will be hosting a PS3 FIFA 14 tournament on Saturday 10 May from 1:30pm. Entrance fee is R100 with cash prizes. [More]

Weekend Three (16 to 18 May)

Games On is the busy bodies of the weekend with not one, but two events starting on Saturday 17 May. League of Legends starts at 3pm, while FIFA 14 starts an hour later.

The playoffs of the MWEB GameZone Ghosts 1v1 Sniper tournament take place on Sunday 18 May. The matches are most likely going to be streamed and we will update you as soon as we know.

Weekend Four (23 to 25 May)

GamersXtreme kick off the weekend (and their second event) on Friday 23 May at 5pm. The LAN runs until 8pm on the Saturday costs R100 pre-booked or R150 walk-in. [More]

The MSSA has the Mpumalanga Provincial Championship over Saturday and Sunday of this weekend. Bring your own with an entry of R60 and colours up for grabs for paid-up members. [More]

Gaming World SA is heading to Durban with a two day Call of Duty Ghosts event on Saturday and Sunday. Details (and confirmation) are still awaited.

Games On is at it again. This time it’s a 24 hour session of Dota 2 on 24 May. We’d suggest dropping them a line for more information.

Weekend Five (30 May to 1 June)

We zombies are at Trenchtown for a special one year anniversary event on Saturday 31 May. Black Ops 2 2v2 acknowledges the first Trenchtown event, but the great thing this time is that entry is free and features cash prizes. Details on the site in the coming days.

Games On ends its busy month with a FIFA 14 tournament on Saturday 31 May. Kick off is at 2pm. [More]

Repeat events throughout May…

There are a few events which just keep on keeping on – sometimes weekly, sometimes daily. These are them.

MWEB GameZone‘s eSniper tournament starts on 5 May and runs until the final on Sunday 18 May. There are prizes up for grabs on both Xbox 360 and PS3.

Cape Town Showdown play host to the virtual fighters in their equivalent of the fight club every Saturday from 11am. The beatdowns happen at GamerNET House on 45 Salisbury Street, Boston, CT. Details can be found here.

The SA Forza 4 Drift Community will be hosting events this month as part of their World Drift Championship Series. We’d suggest heading over to their Facebook Page to keep in the loop.

The Cape Town zombie will be hosting a casual gaming night every Wednesday night from 7:00pm at Trenchtown in Observatory, CT. For more details as they break, keep your eyes here, there and on our social media.

Cape Town is also lucky enough to have a number of eSports Lounges operating now. There’s always something happening at one of them, so keep up to date by visiting their Facebook Pages: Games OnBracciano’s and PS3 & PS4 Gaming Lounge.
