xbox-one-vs-ps4

The Playstation 4 continues to beat the Xbox One at the South African retailer by a 100% margin.

Jokes aside and the surprising news is, according to the official NPC reports as cited by MCV, Sony is leading the new-gen race in the US too, finishing ahead of Xbox One for the fifth consecutive month.

“PlayStation continues to be the best place to play for innovative IP, as PS4 was the preferred platform for May’s biggest releases, including Watch Dogs and Wolfenstein: The New Order, and held four of the top five spots for next gen software sales,” Sony SVP of Brand Marketing Guy Longworth said.

“PS4 is the leading next-gen platform for sports, highlighted in May by the best-selling sports game, MLB 14: The Show.”

Another shocking and surprising figure, is that the overall hardware figures in the world’s largest videogame market, recorded an increase of 95 per cent compared to May last year. This must show that we are embracing the new generation of hardware.

The majority of the growth is attributed to PS4 and Xbox One sales.

“Two examples of hardware bundles that helped to drive hardware sales in May 2014 include Mario Kart 8 bundle for the Wii U, and the Borderlands 2 bundle for the PS Vita,” NPD analyst Liam Callahan stated.

On the games front, leading the sales forces are some new comers: Watch Dogs, Titanfall and Wolfenstein: The New Order. And then some of last year’s hits including NBA 2K14 and Call Of Duty: Ghosts.
