We all know how petite the Playstation 2 ended up being, and new documents have now surfaced indicating that the Playstation 3 could also end up receiving a more slim casing.
Eurogamer are reporting on new documents that have appeared on Pocket News which appear to illustrate a ‘Super Slim’ model.
Documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission reveal a new Playstation 3 model, labelled the 4000 series.
Eurogamer note that we’re currently on the 3000 series, so the new model appears to be related. Eurogamer also say that they have heard that Sony will be announcing the new console at Gamescom next month, but Sony declined to comment on these particular documents.
The new documents show the 3000 model in comparison to even earlier, bigger models.
Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida previously told the publication:
“We haven’t announced anything new on PS3 in terms of hardware revisions.
“We should never say never – hardware guys are always looking at ways to make things cheaper, smaller.”
