In a recent MyGaming survey, MWEB proved to be the most popular ADSL ISP among local gamers.

In the tallied votes of the 1045 responses, MWEB found favour with 32.6% of the votes, followed by Afrihost with 19.2% and Telkom with 18.26%.

The SA gaming survey was run by MyGaming to find out more about the habits and trends among South Africa’s gaming community.  The survey also revealed that 78.66% of participants played online games and that ADSL is by far the most popular broadband connection type.

MWEB has recently made gaming a major focus and have prioritised gaming traffic on their network – which is most likely the reason for this success but one they’re unlikely to let go of now.

MWEB is also actively championing local gaming by involving themselves with local PC and console tournaments, clans and gamers.

Currently, they provide local gamers with: “servers for two of the largest gaming content providers in the world, being GamersGates and Steam, 157 Game servers supporting 59 game titles, regular tournaments, events and competitions, and a voice for the gaming community via the GameZone website.”

They were also recently involved with the successful Clan Connection tournaments and the Mass Effect 3 launch in Cape Town.
