Breakfast Wrap 04TGIF.  Yip. Thank god it’s finished.  The week that is.  It’s an extra long weekend, so stay safe out there.  After you’ve caught up with the gaming news of course.

We’ll start off by saying that Battlefield 4 is coming to the PS4 (and the next Xbox).  This is reportedly confirmed by EA even though it was not mentioned during yesterday’s official announcement.  It also takes no genius to figure it probably will arrive on next-gen consoles.

A ‘Spring Sale‘ has kicked off on PSN.  You can enjoy a number of games, add-ons and other content at discounted prices from now until 9 April.  Along with those ongoing sale items, there will also be 48 hour ‘Easter Egg Hunt’ specials, the first of which is Killzone HD and Infamous: Festival of Blood as a bundle for €15.99/£9.89.  This special is valid until 11.59am on 29 March.  Other specials will be revealed after.  For the full list of the ongoing specials and the 48 hour ones, check out the PlayStation Blog.

Sony is apparently open to paid-for alpha versions of games across their platforms.  As long as they don’t have any “bugs that are completely destroying the world.”  That’s the word from Sony’s VP of publisher and developer relations Adam Boyes, who cited Dust 514 as “a great example of putting out content that you know is not final… If you want to monetize it, that’s fine. I mean, if you want to put out a game that’s playable and does pass the checklists and stuff, you can. If it doesn’t sell and you can’t support, you may not want to support, but we absolutely support that.” [via Joystiq]

According to the man behind the architecture of the PS4 has admitted that some of the hardware design principals of the PS3 caused “some issues” for developers.  However, the PS4 has remedied this with its approach – something Sony made clear when they first revealed the console at the PlayStation Meeting, and something developers have generally applauded. There’s a new Wii U update incoming in April and it promises to halve the loading times.  How about you halve the retail price rather?

Activision has released a GDC ‘Real-time Character Demo’ which shows off some next-gen visuals and what could (possibly) be expected soon.

EA will be shutting down the servers for Star Wars: The Old Republic in the Asia-Pacific region and will migrate all players to the North America network.  Seems odd to hear of a free-to-play game reducing its servers, but community manager Eric Musco says the decision was guided by community feedback: “One common theme from suggestions, which we heard clearly, is that everyone wants the opportunity to play on higher populated servers.”

Metacritic is “wholly inaccurate”.  That’s what Gamasutra first said after a report by Adams Greenwood-Ericksen of Full Sail University.  Ofcourse, Metcritic is  not taking that lying down and have released a statement via Facebook.  Oh, the controversy… don’t you just love it all?  Nah. Can’t be arsed either. [via CVG]

Atari‘s founder Nolan Bushnell reckon’s mobile gaming is over, as “there’s no money” in the crowded mobile game platforms.  We’re pretty sure that won’t stop the publishers from bombarding everyone with new games daily. [via All Things Digital]

EA‘s Frank Gibeau says “DRM is a failed dead-end strategy.”  Erm.  SimCity…  More on Games Industry International.

Stay safe over this long weekend.  We hope it’s a restful one for you and your family.  Remember, the Easter Bunny is an evil creature.  Kill him.  And hug a zombie rather…
