The news you missed, or we simply deemed not that interesting enough over the last 18 or so hours.

Yesterday, we mentioned that it appeared that Apple‘s fortunes were starting to head in reverse, and on the back of that their shares dropped to an 11-month low. The stock fell 3.6 per cent to $501.75 in New York which is the lowest since 15 February 2012 according to Bloomberg. Ouch.
Continuing the ouch, HMV has announced that it will no longer be accepting gift cards or vouchers as the company entered administration yesterday. However, the presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Money Box wrote on Twitter: “The buyer can claim the money back from debit/credit card issuer using chargeback.” Still ouch. The embattled retailer is still hoping to work “as close to normal store practices as possible” during the administration period.
Deep Silver has revealed the ‘Dead Island Zombie Bait Edition’ for their upcoming zombie survival-ish game Dead Island Riptide. The “ultra collectable [sic via PR…]” and “strictly limited” edition will feature a 31cm high and 18.5cm wide resin statue – Dead Island’s “grotesque take on an iconic Roman marble torso sculpture”. Each of the Zombie Bait sculptures will be hand-painted and depict “the grisly remains of one of Palanai island’s zombie infected.” Heck, we reckon if it’s zombie bait, it should have been braaaaaiiiiiiiinnnnnsssss.
Of course, nothing is ever as simple as that is it? Dead Island Riptide’s publisher Deep Silver has almost as quickly as announcing it issued a statement of apology in response to an internet outcry over the statue. The publisher has said it is “deeply sorry” and “sincerely regret this choice”, with a promise that it is “committed to making sure this will never happen again”. Whether the statue will still go in to production is unclear.
Speaking of controversy, the NRA’s new game – NRA: Practice Range – has rightly been called “hypocritical” by US politicians. We just called the NRA “knobs”.
