2010 looks set to be an absolute cracker of a year for gamers. We are not even finished with month one and already we have played such stunning titles like Darksiders and Bayonetta. And with huge titles like FFXIII, Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 coming still, why exactly are the critics already say that the Playstation exclusive God of War III is going to be this years biggest? I mean really? Not Final Fantasy XIII?
Here is what some have said:
IGN
If The two minutes I just played of God of War III are any indication, this game is going to be a visual spectacle. There are sweeping camera angles, constant action the orientation of levels changes on a whim and some truly jaw dropping graphics.”
Joystiq
“My concerns were obliterated last month when I got to play the latest build of the game. It took me a minute or so before I was able to say ‘this is God of War’ and this is what is was meant to be.”
No other game has ever looked so beautiful on a gaming console; and that in of itself is a major accomplishment for Sony. Earlier this month, Sony execs uttered that God of War III was only possible on PS3 and we’re beginning to notice why.
Allot has been promised by Sony with this title. In a recent interview Claire Backhouse, Sony’s product manager told CVG that game will offer unmatched realism and is four times larger than its predecessor.
“God of War III combines these new technologies with the much loved gameplay elements from the previous games – puzzle solving, brutal combat and epic set-piece battles. It also benefits from a deep and involving storyline steeped in Greek mythology. This is what makes God of War III unique and sets it apart from other next-gen titles. I think if you’re over 18 and want an amazing single player experience this year then God of War III is a must have.”
Well there you go, it does sound like all that and then some. So if you have a PS3 you know you need to get your pre-order in early. If you don’t have one, maybe this is the year all us Xbox fanboys need to consider going dual-console. We already missed out on last years best game in Uncharted 2 and it looks like this year could again take top honor with an exclusive.
What do you think?
