Last week it was reported that a class-action lawsuit was filed in California, claiming that the Aliens: Colonial Marines‘ demos were not representative of final game.
The class-action law-suit was filed against SEGA and Gearbox by law firm, Edelson LLC who are representing a Damion Perrineare. The suit claims that earlier playable demos, such as those at E3 and PAX, were “misleading” in terms ‘actual gameplay’ which was unlike that of the final game.
Despite the game being absolutely panned by critics, Gearbox and SEGA are denying any wrong doing in the matter, reports Kotaku.
Gearbox provided a harsh statement claiming the accusations are, “beyond meritless.”
“We continue to support the game, and will defend the rights of entertainers to share their works-in-progress without fear of frivolous litigation,” says Gearbox.
Sega provided a more “PR” friendly response:
“Sega cannot comment on specifics of ongoing litigation, but we are confident that the lawsuit is without merit and we will defend it vigorously,” the publisher said.
