As China continues to grow in the online game market at a healthy rate, their Ministry of Culture is clearly watching the MMO hysteria and curbing their regulations to protect their minors which will see resticions put in place, effective of the 1st August. They hope to try and prevent their minors from succumbing to the addiction that is MMO.
They will firstly limit the purchase of in-game goods and services to virtual cash and minors will not be permitted to conduct any virtual transactions whatsoever. That is where its all at with the nature of these games, similar to rpg’s you want to level up and show off your level 100 goodies for example. So if you asked me I would say this is a genius way of preventing their minors from getting hooked, I mean if they aren’t leveling up, then why continue playing hours and hours on end.
