It has been widely speculated that this years Call of Duty will be a sequel to Black Ops. Kotaku was now forwarded a poster from a retail source which further suggests this.
Also, the framing narrative for 2010’s Black Ops was a debriefing where elements of a massive secret conspiracy were revealed so the text on the poster could be referencing that.
Kotaku also point out that the date on the poster is most likely a reveal date and not a release date as Call of Duty titles are usually released in in the last quarter of the year.
Call of Duty: Black Ops was released in 2010 and was developed by Treyarch. Since 2011’s Call of Duty was developed by Infinity Ward, it would come as no surprise if this years title was a Treyarch developed title.
Activision declined to comment to Kotaku about the image.
