Destiny_01Following the outcry from fans of the news that Destiny’s raids will not support online matchmaking, Bungie has issued a statement.

Eurogamer spotted a post on NeoGAF where Bungie writer Luke Smith said he could “understand everyone’s frustration about the decision, as well as the limitations that this places on the activity’s adoption at scale.”

He says the decision was one he was will to proceed with, in order to “preserve the activity goals.”

“That barrier to entry – the requirement that you get a group of people together and venture into something that is going to challenge your ability to work together (first) and your thumbs (second) – is a barrier I was willing to erect to preserve the activity goals,” he explained.

Bungie apparently expects “hardcore groups” to invest significant time in working through the raids, but maintain that some people should be able to beat one in Normal mode in a week.
