Bulletstorm 2 indefinitely canned

Bulletstorm 2 – the sequel to last years over-the-top shooter – was already in early development before Epic decided against it.

For now, the game’s Polish developer -People Can Fly – will be focusing on a new “better” project that is still to be announced.

According to Epic president Mike Capps talking to GameSpot:

“We thought a lot about a sequel, and had done some initial development on it, but we found a project that we thought was a better fit for People Can Fly.

“We haven’t announced that yet, but we will be announcing it pretty soon.”

Some of this is due to the original game not making the money needed to keep the wheels of economy greased, and partly due to the fact that “it wasn’t the best PC port ever”.

“I think Bulletstorm was very critically successful, and I think a lot of folks really enjoyed seeing something new,” he said. “From a sales perspective it was good, but not amazing. I think EA was hoping we’d do better.”

But all is not lost, there might be a revisit to the game of gag reflexes and boning one day: “I think there’s more to do with Bulletstorm. Heck, it kind of ended wanting more. I’d love to see another project, but right now we don’t have anything to talk about.”
