Black Ops MP details

Details have been emerging during the course of the day about the Call of Duty: Black Ops MP, and it is looking all rather tasty.  To start with, a new mode, called Wager Matches has been announced, and it appears to be absolutely stunning in its concept.

In Wager Matches you can bet your Cod points on four game modes were the top three players take all.

Chamber is a three-life, pistols and knives-only mode. Each player has one bullet apiece with extra ammo only available from the bodies of your dead enemies. Stick and Stones kits you with a tomahawk(!!!) and crossbow – getting a hit with the tomahawk(!!!) bankrupts the victim. Gun Game increases your firepower with each successive kill, while Sharp Shooter is the Russian Roulette of the four, randomising weapons and perks upon entry.

“Cod points?  Fish?”  No, but the standard XP has been replaced.  Don’t go fretting now.  It’s possibly for the better.  CP is earned when playing MP and can be used to purchase new abilties for your player character, or time-limited challenges, called Contracts.

Player customisation has been generally overhauled and Create A Class now lets you tailor your in-game model depending on what perks you set.  You can also alter the look of your gun, and design and edit together your own emblem.

Treyarch is also perking up supply crates by filling them with rare weapons. Alongside the remote buggy that explodes on impact, there is a rapid-fire machine gun (called Death Machine), a fast-fire rocket launcher (Grim Reaper), a gunship and a SAM launcher.

All this, but still no news about a Zombies mode.  Still plenty of time before release though.

**UPDATE**

Following the above news, more was revealed after we posted, so here is a little bit of an update.  The game keeps looking better and better.

If players are not ready to jump online, Treyarch is adding “Training Dummies” for some botmatches in “Combat Training”. Players will level-up and unlock new gear offline, but it will be separate from the online persona. The bots will have three difficulty levels and can play on any map in free-for-all and team deathmatch games. This mode can also be played cooperatively with friends against bots.

Black Ops will also include a theater mode, which will allow players to view replays of their most recent matches, chop out video clips and screenshots, and share their creations with the community at large. It will allow players to view the action, in both first- and third-person, from any participant in the match.

Check the new trailer after the jump.
