Without fail certain retailers have broken the release date of one of the year’s major releases.
We learned earlier from MCV that a major online retailer received stock of Black Ops II on Friday November 9. The retailer promised customers who ordered the game that day before office hours ended, would receive the game the following day. MCV confirm that they were among those who did order and received the game this past Saturday.
So a bunch of gamers, aside from reviewers, have been playing the game over the weekend. It would seem plausible if early online stats would be re-set at the game’s launch to put players on equal footing, but that is not going to be the case.
StrategyInformer report that players who have obtained Black Ops 2 legitimately will not have their stats reset at launch.
Treyarch director David Vonderhaar said on Twitter:
“FAQ. Will people be reset? A. Read the previously linked Security/Enforcement policy. Unless you are a bad person doing bad things, no.”
Vonderhaar did however warn that Treyarch will know if players sourced the game illegally, and that those players will receive a permanent ban.
“We know if you cheated. GG SCRUB CHEATER. DQ PERMA-BAN.”
