The new map pack for Halo: Reach is out now for the price of 800MS Points on Xbox LIVE.
The Defiant Map Pack introduces a total of three new battlefields – Condemned and Highlands – for competitive multiplayer and Unearthed – a brand new Firefight level.
We were fortunate enough to receive preview codes for the maps, but have decided against a full review of the DLC – mainly because we see no sense in commenting on maps that could not be fully enjoyed with one other person running around.
What I will say is that ‘Condemned’ is an indoor style map that has been done before and better in the Halo Universe, ‘Highlands’ is a gorgeous outdoor map that is large and the race for vehicles will be the aim, while ‘Unearthed’ is a dusty, desert factory setting.
Basically, if you still play Halo: Reach MP regularly, you will buy the maps, but if you don’t play the MP much (or at all) don’t bother. For the few times you join a session, the on disc maps are more than adequate to have an enjoyable break from your preferred online shooter of choice. I personally think 800MS Points is a little too much for three maps, but then maybe I’m just tight.
The maps were created in partnership with Certain Affinity and features all new Achievements worth a total of 150 Gamerscore.
