The mid-week has hit us.  It’s an easy ride to the weekend now.  You can do it.  Believe in yourself.  Positive brains taste much better than ones filled with negative thoughts.

In case you missed it, the next game in the Batman: Arkham series has been revealed.  It’s out in october and called Batman: Arkham Origins.

Today sees the world premier of Dark Souls 2 gameplay footage.  Casey Lynch from IGN tweeted: “Tune into @IGN tomorrow 4/10 12PM PT for our world premiere 12 minute gameplay reveal.”

Bethesda is promising “exciting” game announcements in 2013 which will “push the boundaries”.  This is the word from vice president Peter Hines in an interview with OXM.  Fallout maybe?

Deep Silver has no plans to release Saints Row 4 and Dead Island: Riptide on the Wii U.  Deep Silver’s COO said: “With Wii U, the Nintendo market right now and their audience is not who we reach best. It’s not something we’re entertaining in the near or foreseeable future.”

Lost Planet 3 had been delayed – almost unsurprisingly if you ask us.  The game was originally expected at the end of June, but will arrive around two months later at the end of August.  The game will now arrive on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in North America on 27 August and in Europe on 30 August.  To “celebrate” the following DLC pre-order trailer has been released.

The latest Xbox LIVE Marketplace release schedule has been announced by Major Nelson.  Get some discounted games, grab some new DLC, and smile all the way to the bank.  Maybe.

One of the new additions to the Marketplace from today is Halo 3: ODST ‘Campaign Edition’.  This version of the game comes with only the single-player component of the game and ditches the multiplayer.  Ensure you have 3.47GB of hard drive space available if you plan to get it.

The Last of Us is a beautiful wasteland.  So says developer Naughty Dog in this new developer diary.

Two minutes of slicing and dicing have been released by Konami from the upcoming ‘Jetstream’ DLC for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.  It slices.  It dices.  It’s Sam.

A ‘ranger survival guide’ for Metro: Last Light has been released by Deep Silver.  We’d suggest running may be a pretty good way to survive.

An exploit on Uplay has apparently allowed some unscrupulous sorts to download free games including the as yet unannounced Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.  We do not encourage this sort of thing, but more can be read about it on CVG.  Unsurprisingly, the PC downloads have been taken offline while Ubisoft tries to fix the matter.

Vita stuff.  A new firmware update is now available.  Tearaway will be out on 22 October in North America and 23 October in Europe.

A Mega Man FPS reboot called Maverick Hunter was in the works, but isn’t anymore.  Details have been revealed via Polygon.

The finalists of the Xbox Entertainment Awards have been announced.  Best game candidates are Halo 4, Far Cry 3, Assassin’s Creed III, Call Of Duty: Black Ops II and Borderlands 2.  Best music video on the other hand includes “classics” like Psy, Rihanna and Lana Del Rey… Full list of finalists here.

EA has been voted the ‘Worst Company in America’ in consumer poll.  For the second year running.  Some records are not worth making public. [via CVG]

From worst in America we head to the best of Japanese to end.  The Japanese retail games market has shown growth for first time in 5 years, with annual hardware sales up, but software sales down.
