Orena (who just revealed their new website) have revealed the ESWC 2016 qualifiers for Counter-Strike which will see a South African team heading to Paris later this year to participate against teams from around the world.

Last year, the honour fell to Bravado Gaming, and this year, the battle should be an exhilarating one, with the qualifiers reaching their apex at this year’s Electronic & Gaming Expo (EGE) in Cape Town.

But before heading to Cape Town, teams will first need to qualify via online tournament (restricted to 64 teams) set to start next week, with the top four teams securing spots at EGE. Another opportunity to qualify will happen at EGE itself when 12 teams will be able to play through an open LAN bracket at the expo.

Registrations for the online tournament open on 30 May, with qualifiers starting 7 June, while EGE runs from 29 to 31 July at CTICC.

More titles for the ‘Esports Arena’ at EGE will be revealed shortly, so keep your eyes on the zombies.

Press Release:

Last year Orena partnered with Oxent to host the ESWC South African Qualifiers which sent Bravado Gaming to Canada to compete against some of the world’s best CS:GO teams. Giving our teams the opportunity to travel abroad and compete has always been a major goal here at Orena as eSports continues to grow exponentially by the year.

Allowing South Africa’s best teams to compete in a tournament for the chance to go overseas is always a triumph for us at Orena as it brings out the most competitive teams in the country and gives them a platform to improve on as the competitions get bigger and better.
