The two are related, but the double XP is not in celebration of the sales. The double XP weekend – happening from Friday – is to celebrate the release of ‘Annihilation’. While the latest DLC may only be available on Xbox Live, the double XP will be across all platforms.
In the related portion of news, Black Ops became the biggest selling game in the UK, breaking Modern Warfare 2’s record.
The third DLC for Black Ops only released today on Xbox Live and already there is speculation about the fourth one. To be fair, it’s more an insinuation than speculation. I mean, what else could “…keep your eyes peeled…” mean?
Xboxreel – supporters of the South African Xbox 360 competitive gaming scene – have announced that their second season of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Demolition trio tournament has opened for registration.
For Xbox clans or teams interested head over to their site and register. I can speak from previous experience when I say that even if you only survive the first round (hey, we tried, OK?) it’s worth the time spent.
There were rumours and a leaked image yesterday, and rather than keep the world guessing, Activision has announced that the fuzzy image from yesterday is indeed for a new map pack called ‘Annihilation’.
The map pack will be out on June 28 on Xbox 360 and adds four new multiplayer maps: Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo, and Hazard, and a Zombie map, “Shangri-La.” To celebrate the release of this map, Treyarch will be offering a double XP weekend which will start on July 1.
The map pack will be available on PC and PS3 later.
This past weekend saw the Call of Duty: BlackOps one night cup championship organised by nArotiK Gaming played between eight top Call of Duty teams in SA. By all accounts, it proved to be a resounding success with Konsentrasie Knights (KK) taking the final against nArotiK Gaming’s own team.

PC owners are in for a treat over the next two weeks. The DLC for Bulletstorm (‘Gun Sonata’) is out already and on June the 2nd, the ‘Escalation’ map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops is released.

nArotiK Gaming in partnership with ZombieGamer.co.za brings to the South African community of Call of Duty: BlackOps a one night cup championship. The cup will take place on Saturday 21 May 2011 at 18:00 pm and continue until approximately 22:00 pm. The format for this competition is single-elimination and it will be limited to only eight teams.
The Escalation DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops is now available on Xbox LIVE for 1,200 Microsoft Points. Escalation’s four new multiplayer maps and Zombie mode, features famed director George A. Romero, Robert Englund,Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker and Danny Trejo, and an original music track from Avenged Sevenfold titled “Not Ready to Die.”
