EA President, Frank Gineau, has revealed in an interview with Develop that EA DICE’s Mirror’s Edge did not meet Electronic Arts’ expectations. He told the publication that “first-person parkour across buildings is fun, but to be blunt, Mirror’s Edge’s execution fell short.”
Gibeau says the lesson learned from Mirror’s Edge was “you have to execute, you have to spend more time on a game to ensure it’s polished, and you need to have the depth and persistence of an online game,” and that there were “issues with the learning curve, the difficulty, the narrative, and then there was no multiplayer either.”
Gibeau revealed that Mirror’s Edge did not turn a profit but he insisted that EA “won’t give up on those IPs,” when discussing Mirrors Edge and Dead Space.
Incedently Dead Space was also described as a disappointment, while it turned a profit it fell short because of the lack of multiplayer.
