One of South Africa’s best-loved geek weekends out has announced that it will be taking a break in 2020. The announcement also reveals the festival is under new ownership.

This sees the seven year old event returning in 2021, with a promise to ‘return to basics’. In 2019, the event joined forces with Rush, who this year moved to Rand Show. The move always left us wondering what that meant for GeekFest, and to a degree that has now been answered.

GEEKFEST IS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!

After 7 years, GeekFest is officially under new ownership, and as a result will be taking a break from the event circuit this year. We will be coming back with a bang in 2021 and taking the event back to basics. We plan to relaunch in May 2021 as an outdoor Geeky festival once again. So watch this space for more news over the next few months! Thank you for all your support and messages over the last few months. We promise not to disappoint!

This news for Gauteng geek fans is unfortunate. Hopefully the event will come out fighting in 2021.
