Kamimodo E-Sports Cafe Grand Opening

Kamimodo eSports Cafe_Logo_01

Just when you think there’s already plenty of eSports venues in South Africa (there aren’t really), a new one arrives for Cape Town.

Kamimodo eSports Cafe is a”new up and coming e-sports lounge coming to Observatory, Cape Town!” and “welcomes all PC and console gamers, coffee lovers, cosplayers, otakus, geeks!!!” What’s most interesting is how alongside Trenchtown, Observatory may just be turning into the gaming centre of Cape Town. Maybe.

Kamimodo eSports Cafe_17 Oct_01On Friday, 17 October, Kamimodo starts operation at their venue with a ‘Grand Opening‘ event that will feature FIFA and Call of Duty (free-for-all), hosted by these very undead beings, Street Fighter and Injustice, hosted by Cape Town Showdown, as well as an anime and gaming quiz brought to you by the UCT’s Genshiken Society. Entry to the tournaments are free, and there are cash prizes up for grabs.

Prize breakdown for FIFA and Call of Duty: 1st – R400 | 2nd – R250 | 3rd – R100

Alongside that, there will be PCs setup for Dota and League of Legends fans “who have been feeling left out by the many console gaming events in Cape Town.” We’re sorry… You can also bring along your own laptops if you prefer.

If you’re also looking for a spot to watch the League of Legends World Championships, you can catch it live – and later repeated – on Sunday 19 October.
