Sony had to follow a pretty tough act this year after Microsoft’s very good showing at E3. With many thinking they didn’t have much on the table still, a number of surprises were pulled out of the hat and the good news is, that based on both Sony and Microsoft’s showings, gamers are in for a treat over the next year and a bit.

Please note, this article will be updated continually with any relevant information as it becomes available.

The Last Guardian

The game is definitely still alive and is confirmed for a 2016 release. Good start Sony.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Guerrilla Games is back with a new game and it’s a survival game featuring exploration and combat. It looks (if in-game) fantastic.

Hitman

And out of nowhere, a new Hitman game was announced. Other than some PS4 exclusive content, a release date of 8 December and a trailer, no other details were revealed.

Street Fighter 5

Street Fighter 5 will feature a beta this July. But we all want to see punching and kicking right now.

No Man’s Sky

Up next is a game that needs to come out, but still has no release date. Boo. But yay, because the game still looks awesome.

Dreams

Media Molecule’s new game is Dreams.

Firewatch

The pretty intriguing title is Firewatch which will make its console debut on the PS4.

Destiny

For those still playing Destiny, the confirmation of the next DLC for the game will be cause for great jubilation. The expansion is called Destiny: The Taken King, and you will fight Oyrx, the god of the Hive. It arrives on 15 September.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate

Another run for the game at E3, but the PlayStation will get some exclusive content, so that’s fair enough then.

Final Fantasy

There was first something about World of Final Fantasy and then a… Oh. My. God. Did they just announce a Final Fantasy 7 remake for PS4? Yes. Yes, they did.

Shemue 3

Well, the game got announced as a Kickstarter campaign, which will most likely hit all its targets around four minutes after being announced. [It was literally around $50,000 short of its $2 million target around ten hours after the announcement. – Undead Ed]

Batman: Arkham Knight

No news, just a trailer.

Project Morpheus

Yes, Project Morpheus is coming. So is Christmas. Neither are related. However, the game Rigs was announced for the VR headset.

Also announced was that the PS4 now has a media player, which is available now on the PlayStation Store.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 – or Call of Titanfall as we have taken to calling it – has a new home with PlayStation. Imagine all the benefits previously offered to Xbox gamers before – those are now the domain of the PS4. Timed exclusivity for DLC and the multiplayer beta first on Sony’s console. Whether competitive Call of Duty will also make the shift is unknown, but the pace of the game in multiplayer looks fantastic.

Star Wars

Star Wars appears to be everywhere – or at least almost everywhere – this E3. Star Wars in Disney Infinity 3.0 will feature an exclusive PlayStation starter pack, which will include the Twilight of the Republic and Rise Against the Empire playsets. exclusive at least for one month.

Star Wars Battlefront… again. Just in case you missed it before.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Sony ended it all with some footage from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and made everyone despise them for delaying the game. Or just not releasing it tomorrow.

If you’re keen to watch the entire Sony (or PlayStation) E3 conference, then grab a coffee and a snack and jump right in.

Videos

A number of trailers and videos that didn’t make the stage did make it as part of Sony’s E3 adventure, so here they are.
