Xbox Live global boss, John Schappert leaves Microsoft to join Electronic Arts to become their COO of US publisher. He will head-up worldwide publishing for the Online Platform Group – EA Interactive, Central Development Services and a few other divisions.
Schappert started as a software engineer in 1991 at EA, then left in 2007 to join Microsoft Interactive Entertainment business which headed Microsoft Game Studios and Xbox Live and is now back to EA.
EA CEO, John Riccitiello said “we are thrilled to welcome John Schappert back to EA” and “he has a great track record as a leader and innovator in our industry. His years of experience with EA and Microsoft, provide him great insight into recognizing what consumers want.”
So someone that had a hand in Microsoft Studio Games at EA…..hmmm…. I don’t see this as a bad thing and I wonder what his Microsoft experience could do for PS side of EA games.
