Following a successful start to the T-Fest series of events on 30 August, we’re pretty pleased to announce and details the second event which will be hosted at Trenchtown on 27 September. The event will be a celebration of the South African launch of the Xbox One, as well as celebrating all things zombie.
We would like to start by emphasising that T-Fest is meant to celebrate gaming, socialising, markets, cosplay and more, so without your support it certainly won’t be a success, so we invite you all to attend.
We took a lot of information and comments from the first event and want to improve this one by offering attendees more for their money, which is nothing. Well, the entry is completely free – we will not be charging for any of the tournaments going forward. We also feel the space we allocated for the gaming was a little restricted, so we will be moving and increasing the gaming area.
The screening area proved to be a nice breakaway space, and we will make better use of the lounge aspect of it by running a number of zombie films on a schedule throughout the day. There will also be an outdoor activity added to the event and that will celebrate the game Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare by being… dodgeball… in the garden. Wear your best zombie (or plant) costume and we’ll also award you a prize should you be considered ‘best-dressed’.
We will be working to add new vendors to the event and are also in talks with a number of distributors and retailers to add value to the event by way of prizes.
We will be announcing updates as they come along, but for now know the following very important information about T-Fest.

General
There will also be a number of demo titles and ‘free-to-play’ titles, and where possible they will be titles you can try before you buy. We will set up a number of tablets so that if you’re so inclined, you can go ahead and purchase something via our affiliate if you feel the inkling.
Cosplay
While cosplayers will be welcome in any form, this month we really want to get to celebrate the zombies, so the competition will be the best-dressed, most authentic looking zombie or plant if you feel like branching out a little. Yes, we laughed at our own silly joke just a little now.
Dressing as a zombie or plant is encouraged even more for the dodgeball happening on the day. We will judge the winning zombie (or plant) at around 5pm, and up for grabs will be prizes which include vouchers from Krafts By Witch Knight and more.
Other Activities
The card games drew no-one to the August event, but should any players want us to set aside some space for them, we are more than happy to do so. If there is a call for board games, well that is welcome too.
For the younger ones (and as we discovered in August, some of the older ones too),Rebel Monkey will be hosting a colouring-in competition. Prizes shall be dished out to the person (or persons) most capable of staying within the lines.
Odd Customs will be hosting a half-hour introduction to drawing… zombies (or maybe humans), so hang around and learn the real proportions you need to focus on to make a zombie sexy.
We want to bring in some face painting and nail painting, so both kids and adventurous grown-ups can release their inner-self or simply join in the fun.
As previously mentioned, we will run screenings of zombie films such as Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland and more.
Screening Schedule (approx. times and subject to change):
- 1:00pm: Doghouse (90 mins)
- 2:30pm: Z-Nation Ep. 1 (45 mins)
- 3:15pm: Shaun of the Dead (100 mins)
- 4:45pm: Land of the Dead (95 mins)
- 5:15pm: Zombieland (90 mins)
- 6:45pm: Warm Bodies (100 mins)
- 8:30pm: DeadHeads (100 mins)
Dodgeball SA will be running a dodgeball event in the garden of Trenchtown. A fee (to be confirmed) will be charged per team, but it should be a lot of (physical) fun…
The Anime Trading Station by The Genshiken Society of UCT will be there, so bring along a flashdrive. The gaming and anime quiz is also making a return under their name and will be a team-based one this time. Minimum of two players per team required and expect it to start at around 4pm.
Raffles
On the day, and running until the close of the 29 November T-Fest event, we will be hosting a number of raffles. Up for grabs for your ticket will be Zombiegamer T-Shirts, hampers and more. This is the closest we will come to charging for the event, and is completely optional, but supporting the raffles will support the continued operating of these events.
The first hamper that will be raffled off – at R10 per entry – will contain a much sort after Zombiegamer t-shirt (in a size you want), a Zombiegamer mug, a game and a R100 Kalahari voucher. That is goodies valued at around R750 – if not more.
Food and Drink
The venue offers plenty of food and drink options but it should be noted that no food bought outside of the venue may be consumed on the premises.
A food special is still to be confirmed, and as soon as we can confirm the special, we will let you know.
**UPDATE** The special on the day will be R30 for a margherita pizza. You all love pizza right?
Please note: the premises does serve alcohol, and no under 18s will be sold alcohol. Anyone caught facilitating under age drinking will be asked to leave.
See You There
We will update and detail additional information as we draw closer, but remind you that there are also two more planned this year still, and hope to see you – both familiar faces and new faces – in attendance. If you also want to bring along your handheld consoles, feel free to, as we can offer you some space to play against each other if you like.
