Both Sony and Microsoft will be allowing indie developers control over their RRPs. However, Microsoft is a little tighter in this regard than Sony, and Chris Charla (from Microsoft) explained to CVG that while indies are free to set a wholesale price on their digital games (how much Microsoft pays them per sale), Microsoft can still determine the game’s final retail price at will.

Activision has announced that players will be able to upgrade from their PS3 and Xbox 360 copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts to next-gen ones for a suggested retail price £10/€10/$10. The ‘upgrade’ offer will be a limited time affair, and so far partners in the US and UK (GameStop and Amazon) have been appointed. More details will be announced soon.

The Killzone: Mercenary beta has hit the PSN Store as part of this week’s update. More on PlayStation Blog.

Namco Bandai has confirmed plans to host a closed beta for Dark Souls 2 which will start on 5 October in EU and US territories. Registrations will commence on 5 September.

Beyond: Two Souls will – according to Joystiq – offer two-player, co-operative multiplayer via iOS and Android touchscreen devices. In the game, one player will control protagonist Jodie Holmes and the other will control Aiden, the invisible entity she’s attached to through a psychic link.

Flashback is now available in Xbox Live’s Summer (or Winter) of Arcade. The Arcade title will cost you 800MSP.

A Diablo 3 expansion has been announced at Gamescom. The ‘Reaper of Souls’ will feature a “darker” story, new character (Crusader) class and more…

The publisher of Rambo – Reef Entertainment – has acquired the exclusive console video game rights to The Terminator and its sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day, while on PC, they’ve acquired the rights to Terminator 2 only. Expect a new game sometime. [via Eurogamer]

Konami has announced a release date for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. The game will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on 28 February 2014 in the UK. Screenshots here.

PES 2014 has been dated, and a demo has been confirmed. The game releases 20 September in the UK, 24 September in the US and 27 September in Europe. The demo will be available from 11 September on PS3 and 12 September on Xbox 360.

PS3 exclusive Rain has been dated for release via PSN – 1 October in the US ($14.99) and 2 October in Europe (€12.99).
