Games

EA has revealed a few more fighters for their upcoming EA Sports UFC game. Jon “Bones” Jones, Rashad Evans, Chael Sonnen, Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson and Georges “Rush” St-Pierre have been joined by Forrest Griffin, Chan Sung Jung and Costas Philippou. The official website for new RPG Bound by Flame has been launched. The game is scheduled for a Q2, 2014 launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. New screenshots are available here.

Fable Trilogy has been confirmed via an Xbox Marketplace listing. The collection includes Fable 2, Fable 3 and Fable Anniversary and will be available for Xbox 360 from 7 February. [More on Eurogamer]

The PC requirements for Thief have been revealed, as the game gears up for its release on 25 February in North America, 27 February in Australia and 28 February in Europe. To see the specs, head here.

2K and Bethesda have teamed up for game bundles that will only be available in the US. The first bundle features The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and BioShock Infinite, while the second includes Borderlands 2 and Dishonored and will cost $29.99 each on their release on 11 February. No DLC is included in the bundles.

South Africa

MWEB is offering their existing clients a free WiFi router as part of their new partnership with Fon – the world’s largest WiFi network. According to the press release: “Using their ADSL login details, MWEB customers with a Fon – enabled router, can immediately access the rapidly growing network of WiFi hotspots, which currently includes MWEB WiFi Zones and Always On hotspots. In the future, as more MWEB Fon customers sign up, so the MWEB Fon network grows and more than 30 000 hotspots across the country are envisaged by the end of 2014.” [More on MWEB]

Industry

Disney has not renewed its Star Wars 1313 trademark, essentially marking the death nail for the game. According to the trademark listing, it has been “abandoned because no Statement of Use or Extension Request [was] timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued.” [More on CVG]

According to a report on Digital Foundry, Sony will be rolling out PS Now from the the third quarter of 2014. The US will get the streaming service first, with Europe having to wait until the first quarter of 2015.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has insisted that he will not resign from his position, even though he accepted responsibility for the company’s poor commercial performance for the current financial year. [More on CVG]

Following the poor performance, Nintendo is “thinking about a new business structure,” but according to Iwata, it’s “not as simple as enabling Mario to move on a smartphone.” [More on Bloomberg]
