VS Gaming has become the headline sponsor for the 2017 edition of the Electronics & Gaming Expo (EGE) in Cape Town. They have also announced that the Grand Finals of the Dota 2 Masters will be held at EGE over the weekend of 28 to 30 July 2017.
The Dota 2 Grand Finals will see the final eight teams competing for a R550,000 cash prize pool.
VS Gaming CEO Cambridge Mokanyane had this to say:
“This expo is all about esports, cosplay and gaming – both competitive and casual, so it makes perfect sense for VS Gaming to be involved. It’s really the epitome of all things we love and promote. This event attracts people from all over South Africa who share similar passions, so it is a natural fit for us to hold our Dota2 Grand Finals here as well.”
“As the largest esports league on the continent we are continuously looking for new and exciting ways to grow our footprint and this expo gives us that opportunity in Cape Town. We are excited to be bringing our live format of esports back to the Western Cape.”
MORE ON EGE 2017
Over the course of the weekend, attendees can expect cosplay, tabletop games, memorabilia, plenty of awesome vendors, games, socialising, HWBOT World Tour 2017 and a whole lot more.
Off the agenda this year is the 52-hour social BYOC LAN.
Esports as indicated above is in full force but it won’t only be VS Gaming. Orena will be hosting the Cape Town leg of their ESWC CS:GO qualifiers at EGE, and a little whisper in my ear has indicated another title will be operated by Orena too.
But what about us and our sister organisations ACGL and TGN Racing Simulators? Well, apparently we can’t be shaken for a third year in a row, so we will be there with Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, FIFA 17, Injustice , PES 2017, racing, some Dota 2 and more.
We will also be hosting school’s only FIFA 17 and Injustice 2 tournaments on Friday 28 July 2017 and all attending scholars in school uniform will get a day pass for only R20. The proceeds from these day passes will go to charity.
In fact, we won’t be contained and we will be announcing more stuff in the run up to the EGE weekend.
In the meantime, book yourself for another weekend of gaming goodness in Cape Town at EGE 2017.
