Activision expect Black Ops to sell less than Modern Warfare 2

Cowan & Company’s analyst, Doug Creutz has concluded that Activision is expecting to sell around 20% less Call of Duty: Black Ops units that that of Modern Warfare 2, according to a guidance report that accompanies their financials which they published last week.

Creutz told investors, “We think management’s guidance implies Black Ops units down roughly 20% versus Modern Warfare 2,” said Creutz.

This goes against the fact that the upcoming title is recording positive figures with pre-release metrics which report that Black Ops is in fact ahead of Modern Warfare 2.

Total sales are obviously not just accounted by pre-orders and orders for the title should run strongly for a few weeks at least before any conclusion can be drawn, but it certainly does look like Black Ops could in fact topple Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Black Ops releases worldwide tomorrow and will be multi-platform.
