It seems as though Valve may have overlooked a few possible outcomes with it’s recently introduced ‘Steam Tagging system’ and more specifically – how it could be abused.
Valve’s new service has fallen victim to malice and abuse, as MCV report that a host of titles were tagged abusively and some were even tagged with what could be spoilers.
Valve has now updated the tagging beta to allow users to vote down or flag tags that are either offensive, contain a spoiler, are not appropriate or are simply unhelpful.
Steam users can therefore now ‘vote down’ any malicious tags, and if enough votes are received, the tag is removed
The only problem we can still see is that until a “spoiler-containing tag” is voted down and removed, it will still be there for users to see.
