We’re all war veterans around the Zombiegamer camp. All except Undead Ed. He’s still a war n00b. The rest of us have seen our fair share of campaigns. Long before any of our readers were even a twinkle in, well, anyone’s eye, we were battling those pesky humans known as the Mayans. They thought they’d warn you all about us again, but we’ve decided to embarrass them and postpone the next zombie apocalypse until you all least expect it. Best you start preparing…
War Veterans may claim to be veterans, but the proof will be in the upcoming zombie apocalypse for this Xbox 360 clan who specialise in “FPS, Racing and any competitive game out there.”
When did the clan form?
Our origin is unknown but WV was created in early August 2011
How many members were there at the start and what was the game of choice?
At the start we were 7 members (and remember that was 2011) and our game of choice just happens to be…. Call of Duty oooh yeeeaaah…
Any other games that the clan plays as a change of pace?
Well we are mostly a Call of Duty clan but on occasion we like to mix it up with some Minecraft, a little Battlefield, some Fifa, a little Crysis 2 and most of all….. Viva Pin….. naaah lets leave that for now.
How many members are you currently? Keen to give out their names, credit card details and ID numbers?
Alright, only Gamertags will do.
King Rusty 101
Ninja Pete ZA
These gamertags will eventually all begin with WV in the future 🙂
Does the clan have an organisational structure? Or is it a free-for-all?
Our structure is used in almost every game, although most of the time we have to improvise depending on what happens during a game. We try our best to make sure that we are always playing our game and not there’s (psychologically too)
How often do you try to play together as a clan?
Everyday we try to play together and if life happens then so be it. Weekends are usually our best times to play especially on a Friday night, wink wink lolzZ.
Have you participated in any tournaments yet? Won any?
We Participated in:
The doGaming League (Unfortunate lost but our 1st competitive tournament)
The King of Console (Great Evening and first time meeting team mates)
Is attending LANs important to the clan and its members – especially considering the lack of LANs in the console scene?
We are always excited when we hear about LANs and WV is always willing to attend (We should be first on the list because we are always wanting to attend any LAN). If LANs became a monthly routine it would be great 🙂
Do you consider yourselves a competitive clan, or one in it more for the “shit and giggles”?
We are definitely a competitively giggly clan. We love to own and if for whatever reason we do not own then we just laugh and some of the rager comments like, “you are the biggest under the sun”, right Paral3x?
Are you guys actively recruiting for new players? If so, how should a potential member contact you and how do you decide on who is right to join you?
We are not recruiting members right now since we have our squads (Well 3 to be exact). Our 5 man squad which are the Elite team, our other 5 man squad consisting of our second wave and our sniping squad which is under construction. Our clan is big in numbers (only 15 people) and the chemistry in our clan is amazing and recruiting might affect that in a way.
What are you hoping to achieve in the future as a clan?
We are hoping to become the best clan out there. Some mistake our kindness for weakness and think that we are weak like some clans tend to think and say, but you have to lose a few to win a lot (Hope that doesn’t work in reverse though). We would also like be respected and be an example to future clans and players out there.
Which opposing clan(s) do you most respect/hate/want to be like?
WV has respect for quite a few clans in terms of good sportsmanship and fun times to just jam it out and no matter the outcome we can always have something fun to talk about. There are even clans who don’t really know WV but we also look at them as a respectable clan. H5 is definitely one of them because they love to have fun, enjoy the competitiveness and they are really a great example of South African gaming (So we would like to be like them, Holden and Dastrix you guys do a tremendous job). Then it will have to be OmCd because of their willingness to try and try and never give up, their cheerfulness is really awesome. Clans we hate……. Well, if you send hate messages to WV and you are part of a clan we won’t hate you, but we will kill you, stab you, blow you up and tea (wait for it, start boiling that kettle) bag your body!
In regards to professional – or competitive gaming – what do you as a clan think needs to be done to raise the profile of South African gaming?
South African gaming is slowly becoming known but I think tournaments such as MLG need to be made World Wide and not restricted to only certain parts of the world. If we could also do our part in having the right kind of attitude towards trying to be known as a great community then we will have finally achieved awareness.
Right, let’s have a little fun…
If you weren’t a gaming clan you’d be…
A bunch of mental patients in our own jailhouse criticizing each others taste in music and movie selections (Late nights with WV)
You have a clan mate pinned down by enemy fire. Back at HQ there’s a hot Swedish blonde offering Swedish back massages at the bar. Do you send the squad to a certain death to rescue your clan mate? Or chill at the HQ and have a massage and drink a toast to his “valour”?
Well nobody said she was gonna leave so we’ll definitely save our clan mate first and then onto those Shweeeedish massages.
If you guys had a music soundtrack for going to war, what would it be?
Damn, you had to say music. Well I would have to say that any song that puts us in such a trance that we can only get out of it after we’ve won the war is definitely the song for us.
Thanks for your time – is there anything you would like to add before you head back out into the cold?
We would just like to thank ZombieGamer for giving us this opportunity to let other clans out there finally know about War Veteran. I would also like to thank my clan mates in the TREE of WV for believing in me. As a leader, sometimes decisions have to be made for the good of the clan and I would like to thank WV for standing with me when I have had to do it. Sometimes it is never easy to do what we do, put up with the things we put up with and take everything in the way WV does, but we are still here and we are not going anywhere. That’s THE TRUTH
Please note: Clan Q&A’s can be conducted up to five weeks before they are published so some information may already have changed.
