Ninjas are such sneaky buggers. Always hiding in the shadows. Waiting to pounce at the very moment a zombie may be distracted by a rogue limb placed in such a way that might very well be a lure. It’s easy enough to deal with one of them at a time, but send an army, and even we zombies have to question our chances of survival.
So, it might be important to note that you humans should be grateful for the fact that you have these ninjas in your corner when the apocalypse comes. Even if they are only nine inches tall…
So… NiN – NiNE iNCH NiNJAS, not to be confused with Nine Inch Nails – how’d you come up with the name? Are you Trent Reznor and ninja fans?
NiNJacques (Founder) came up with the clan name on a night of passionate drinking. It was one of those nights that only get’s talked about in the dodgiest places you can find. He wanted to create a NiNJAS clan and this epic night was the start of something greater to come (unknown to him at the time). As for Trent Reznor, most of us are fans.
When did the clan form and how many members were you at the beginning?
NiNE iNCH NiNJAS was announced to the public on the 02nd of September 2009. There were a handful of friends that joined, not too sure about the exact number of members.
How many members are you currently? Wanna waste time and list them maybe? As many personal details as possible please. We’re not stalkers. Or planning to steal your identities…
We currently have 44 members in NiN.
Does the clan have an organisational structure? If yes, what is it?
Yes we do. It’s a standard Hierarchy structure that branches into the various games we play.
We work on the following structure:
- Elders (4 NiNJAS) – The Crem-Dala-Crem of NiNJAS
- Operations Team – Decisions makers, recruiting officers. All the back office kind of work.
- Game Captains – NiNJAS that manager the active members of a certain game.
- Designers – NiNJAS responsible for our visual look be it Forum Signature, Server Banners etc.
- Senior Members – NiNJAS in the clan for more than 1 year or that have been granted this rank by an Elder or OPS.
- Junior Member – Most of the new NiNJAS, been in NiN for less than a year, or not very active within NiN.
All the members current rank is shown in their signature on SA Gamer.
Do you consider yourselves a Battlefield clan? What makes that the game for you?
We consider ourselves a PS3 Clan. Battlefield 3 currently has the most exposure as we are very active there right now with the various competitions (past and future). However our CoD division is growing stronger by the day and you can soon expect us to start playing competitively there as well. We are also looking at expanding our GT5 and FIFA divisions.
What other game(s) you enjoy as a clan?
We enjoy playing CoD (BLOPS2), GT5, FIFA 13 and the occasional SuperMario & Ms. Pacman.
Are you exclusively a PS3 clan?
We are exclusively a PS3 clan at present, but we have a few of our players that dabble in some PC games but not under the NiN name.
Are you guys actively recruiting for new players? If so, how should a potential member contact you and how do you decide on who is right to join you?
Recruitments are open but specifically for BF3. You can contact either LeStat, plstk or any of the other NiN members you may know and they will introduce you to the Operational NiNJAS (mentioned above). The best place to find us would be our home at www.sagamer.co.za. You can also contact us through our Facebook, YouTube channel, E-Mail or on our BattleLog Platoon.
Do you consider yourselves a competitive clan, or one in it more for “shits and giggles”?
In NiN we have a place for everyone. Most join NiN for the “shits and giggles” as we do this VERY WELL, but soon find themselves wanting to take part in some kind of competitive league. We have a chilled side and a very competitive side.
Won any tournaments you feel like bragging about?
Won the Local Killzone 3 League (2011)
2nd in BF3 Squad Rush (2012)
2nd in BF3 Conquest League (2012)
What are you hoping to achieve in the future as a clan?
We really need to start focusing on not eating all the doughnuts before lunch. But we also really want to build up our team to international standards and compete in that domain.
Which opposing clan(s) do you most respect (or hate…)?
Competitively, we have the utmost respect for Legion, formally known as SASS. They were a well run and trained unit. We played them in both BF3 (Squad Rush & Conquest) finals and had to be the hardest matches of our history.
Socially, we love ourselves some MoM’s. They are always there to help you out or to try and resolve issues there might be. Awesome bunch of guys!
HATE… we don’t use that term or try not to. We try and steer away from conflicting members on SAGamer, but we have some score to settle with a clan out there. It’S a kind of a love/HAte (oops :), I didn’t just DO that) relationship We have. See what I did there…. lol
But it’s more in fun then anything else.
In regards to professional – or competitive gaming – what do you as a clan think needs to be done to raise the profile of South African gaming?
We need to compete, compete and compete. I don’t think there is enough support out there for “good or exceptional” players. We know this is changing but currently there is a very small or select few players who are getting the attention they deserve and not a lot of focus on developing new talent.
Right, let’s have a little fun…
If you weren’t a gaming clan you’d be…
strippers or Men Lingerie Models
War movie that best describes the clan – Platoon or Tropic Thunder?
PLATOON! “Shut up! Shut up and take the pain! Take the pain!”
If you guys had a music soundtrack for going to war, what would it be?
Whigfield – Sexy Eyes
“Ooh ooh, aah aah, sexy eyes. I’m gonna take you to paradise”
Thanks for your time – is there anything you would like to add before you have to go back to the battlefield again?
Can I take this mankini off now?
Please note: Clan Q&A’s can be conducted up to five weeks before they are published so some information may already have changed.
