Ubisoft scaling down on ‘casual’ games studios to concentrate on ‘core’ games

Ubisoft have cleared up allegations of them totally closing down their Brazil offices. Ubisoft’s Brazilian director Bertrand Chaverot has dismissed the allegations talking to French publisher - Canal dos Games . Chaverot did confirm that they are indeed reviewing its plans for South America but not totally closing the doors.

The reasoning for the this is the publishers opened two studios in Brazil with the purpose of developing solely on DS and casual games. Ubisoft were planning on expanding their staff there to 200 people.

They are now evaluating the studios as they now plan to focus on core games as apposed to that of the DS and casual games due to poor sales from their previously launched casual titles.
