Trenchtown Gaming Tournament happens 1 June 2013

You may have already heard about it.  If you haven’t, you’re clearly hanging around the wrong places on the internet.  By “it” we don’t mean something silly like a zombie apocalypse.  We mean the Trenchtown Gaming Tournament.  It’s awesome because it will feature zombies.  And humans.  And games… of course.

Trenchtown in Observatory (Cape Town) has been the scene of many Monday night gaming events (weekly since February) and have been most accommodating in allowing the recently announced 2upGamers eSports division (the collaboration of 2upGamers and Zombiegamer) to launch at their venue, as well as coming onboard with cash prizes.

On Saturday 1 June at Trenchtown we will be hosting a Black Ops 2 and FIFA 13 tournament.  On the day, there will also be a few stalls, and promotions happening.

The Black Ops 2 tournament will be a 2v2 Search and Destroy tournament.  Don’t worry if you don’t have a team mate, we will try to accommodate anyone without a partner on the day.  The tournament will run on Xbox 360, and all equipment will be supplied, however, if you would prefer to bring your own headsets and controllers, please feel free to do so.

The FIFA 13 tournament will be 1v1 and will be played on both PS3 and Xbox 360 as a ‘home and away’ tournament.  Aggregate scores will see the player move on to the next round.  All equipment will be supplied, but players may bring their own controllers if preferred.

Registration for the event is R50 – or you can pay R80 and get a margarita pizza chucked in.  Cash prizes will be up for grabs as well as sponsored products.  The minimum cash prize pool per game is R1000 (R500 for first, R250 for second, R150 for third and R100 for fourth).  However, if 32 players enter each tournament, this prize pool will increase to R1500 per game and will reward players up to eighth place.  In fact, for every 16 players entering the tournaments, the prize pool increases, so getting others to join could work in your favour.

Sponsors for the day – to go along with Trenchtown themselves – are Red Bull (some energy drinks will be available to keep you going free of charge), Jagermeister (only for those old enough of course) and Relic.  There will be cosplay and promotion girls, and we also have additional sponsors onboard who will be giving us prizes to give away to attendees – both players and spectators – meaning it will be worth it to simply hang around and watch too.  We will announce the full list of prizes during the course of next week.

**UPDATE**

A new confirmed sponsor for the day is Xmods who supply accessories to personalise your console and controller.  They will be supplying vouchers which will go to the winning Black Ops 2 team.
