Titanfall has been cancelled for South Africa

EA South Africa (and we will assume Microsoft and Xbox South Africa too) have cancelled Titanfall for South African gamers, citing poor online performance rates in the country.

The news was broken (cowardly, in this writer’s opinion) via a Facebook post, which reads:

After conducting recent online tests for Titanfall, we found that the performance rates in South Africa were not as high as we need to guarantee a great experience, so we have decided not to release Titanfall in South Africa at this time.

We understand this is a disappointment for local fans and will keep fans posted on any future plans regarding the release of Titanfall in South Africa

However, gamers and media who participated in the beta locally, have claimed that the experience was fine. Maybe the powers that be had one too many Titans fall on their head.

Sort it out EA and Microsoft before the hordes chase you from our sunny shores with torches and pitchforks…

We have emailed the local distributor, Apex Interactive, as well as the local EA branch for clarity on the matter.

**UPDATE**

So it appears that a complaint lodged with the CPA about the lack of servers for the game in the country may have prompted this decision. The complaint was announced on the SA Gamer Forums.

**UPDATE**

EA has confirmed that the game has been cancelled on all platforms locally available. So no Xbox 360 or PC version will be available locally. Without the Xbox One here, we assume you understand that version will also not be available?

**UPDATE**

A petition has been kicked off to see if gamers in South Africa can convince EA to change their mind. Sign it here.
