Round 2 Results:
- Mythic Gaming 2 – 0 Armageddon
- Sini5ter Valhalla 2 – 0 Pulse Gaming Salt (Stream: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnW5aS3UeiA)
- Constant 2 – 0 Sini5ter Cloud’s End
- HiVe Gaming Entropy 2 – 0 Such DotA! (Stream: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HbuCiruU1M)
- Ventus Green 2 – 0 TERA Team Perfect Synergy
- ALG Vintage 2 – 1 PotM Bottom
- Valk Magni 2 – 0 PSi Gaming
- DUC! 2 – 1 TopKek
Some pretty surprising results here. In all honesty, I didn’t expect to see PotM Bottom and PSi Gaming fall to DGL Ladder teams. These results are a minor upset for both those teams, but no doubt DGL Ladder teams Magni and Vintage are going to be ecstatic to have made the Top 8. DUC! have had a bit of a reshuffle recently, thus I’m not shocked they were able to take down TopKek. TopKek will probably be more than a little annoyed at this result, especially since it was a closely fought series. Ventus Green and Mythic Gaming both had fairly easy matchups and advance as expected. Constant ending the run of Sin5 Cloud’s End will surely upset some folks over at Sin5. This is an especially salty defeat with Valhalla advancing further than they did here.
Speaking about Sin5 Valhalla, they caused what must be the biggest upset of the night by beating favourites Pulse Gaming Salt. This is a totally unexpected result, but in my pre-tournament predictions I pointed out how dangerous this Sin5 side could be. It appears my 2nd place prediction has managed to knock out my first place prediction. Now I owe F3arBender and his team some beers at DGC 2017, should they make it that far. The other major shock last night was HiVe Gaming defeating Such DotA! in a 2 – 0 rout. Cleary my coaching is doing these boys a world of good! Jokes aside, HiVe Gaming performed really well to knock out Such DotA. This performance marks their clear intention of making it into Premier Division in 2017.
Round 3 takes place tonight at 20h30. Remember, regardless of what happens from this point forward, these 8 teams move directly to the Emerald Showdown on the 30th of January 2017. There they will meet the Top 8 from the Emerald Genesis Do-or-Die Proving Grounds. The four matchups taking place tonight are:
- Constant vs Mythic Gaming
- Sini5ter Valhalla vs HiVe Gaming Entropy
- DUC! vs Ventus Green
- ALG Vintage vs Valk Magni
Congratulations to the above 8 teams and GLHF for tonight! The following teams were eliminated in Round 2 and fall short of the Top 8:
- Pulse Gaming Salt (DGL Prem Div)
- TopKek (DGL Prem Div)
- Such DotA! (DGL Prem Div)
- PSi Gaming (DGL Second Div)
- PotM Bottom (DGL Second Div)
- Sini5ter Cloud’s End (DGL Second Div)
- TERA Team Perfect Synergy (DGL Ladder)
- Armageddon (DGL Ladder)
