PSN offline this Thursday for “scheduled maintenance”

PlayStation Home | Update 1.55 details

The latest update to the PlayStation 3’s social hub should be available from today and brings with it a fair number of changes.


As part of this update it would appear that the PlayStation Network will also be down for around two hours later today.  You will not be able to sign in during the downtime, so ensure that you have signed in before hand.

The maintenance will take place from 5-9pm British Standard Time, during which time the PSN will be unavailable. The work will affect the following PSN services:

  • PlayStation Store
  • Account Registration
  • Account Management


PlayStation Home getting a major re-model

Sony has announced plans for a massive overhaul of PlayStation Home this coming Fall [Northern Hemisphere].  The new Home will feature the ‘Hub’ and four themed destinations.

The Hub “integrates games, quests, community events and user-generated content, while providing players with additional navigation, shopping, socialization and entertainment options.” – essentially becoming the launch pad to all other Home-based activities.
