Playstation Network Becomes ‘Sony Entertainment Network’ Tomorrow

Sony has told Eurogamer that the entire Playstation Network will become ‘Sony Entertainment Network’ as from tomorrow, the 7th February.  Sony says it is to make it easier to associate the service to the Sony brand name and with all Sony products. PSN | Compromised user info used in mass access attempt

Sony’s SVP & Chief Information Security Officer, Philip Reitinger, has issued a statement on the PlayStation.Blog informing users that the company detected a wave of sign-in attempts which were made using login and password information “obtained from one or more compromised lists from other companies, sites or other sources.”   They have instigated a “preventative measure” which is outlined in his statement below, but is essentially password resets for the effected accounts.

PlayStation Home getting a major re-model

Sony has announced plans for a massive overhaul of PlayStation Home this coming Fall [Northern Hemisphere].  The new Home will feature the ‘Hub’ and four themed destinations.

The Hub “integrates games, quests, community events and user-generated content, while providing players with additional navigation, shopping, socialization and entertainment options.” – essentially becoming the launch pad to all other Home-based activities.

Sony announces launch dates for PAYDAY: The Heist, Rochard and Sideway: New York

Sony has announced the launch dates for three of their “highly anticipated” PSN titles as well as announcing that all three will have new demos at Gamescom.

First to arrive on PSN is Rochard – it launches September 27 for $9.99.  Next out of the starting block is PAYDAY: The Heist, which will release on October 4 and cost $19.99.  The game is expected to have some DLC follow “later this year”.  Finally, on October 11, Sideway: New York hits for $9.99.
