If you played the first Prototype title from Activision you will probably also be quite keen to see how the sequel turned out. Prototype was a great design, enjoyable and interesting, but lacked polish and just fell short in a few areas. Activision have now released some new information about Prototype 2 for you to gush over. Here’s all about…
Activision looks to be going for the quality over quantity approach at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany this year. Visitors do stand a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to LA for the Call of Duty XP tournament. Otherwise, you have your Call of Duty and Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 3 and elite – along with Prototype 2 and GoldenEye 007: Reloaded featuring as highlights.
It looks like featuring in a game these days is the new pre-order incentive. Activision and GameStop have launched a promotion where US and Canadian pre-order customers (of Prototype 2 – obviously) can stand a chance to have their likeness appear in-game. Maybe as a tendril.
No, it’s not another game in the series, but a “celebration for the Call of Duty community” set to hit Los Angeles on September the 2nd and 3rd. The “ultimate fan experience” will include the Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer reveal, Xbox 360 and Activision $1 Million Tournament, live events and more.
All ticket sales will benefit ‘The Call of Duty Endowment’.
Activision has now confirmed the rumoured ‘Escalation’ Map Pack, which will be a timed release on Xbox 360 first.
The second DLC for Black Ops will be available on Tuesday May 3rd. It will contain 5 all-new maps – 4 Multiplayer maps and an epic Zombies experience with all-new playable characters.
Activision today announced Spider-Man: Edge of Time, where Spider-Man faces one of his greatest challenges ever — saving Spider-Man. Edge of Time is being developed by Activision-owned studio Beenox and challenges the player to take on the roles of both classic Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 to correct a timestream gone awry and prevent a catastrophic future brought on by the early and untimely death of Peter Parker.
I wish they would stop playing with our hearts like this. At least they kept good on their last promise after claiming they’ll be stopping DLC for both Guitar Hero and DJ Hero.
Today, Activision announced (and released) the ‘Modern Rock Mega Pack’, which features songs from Bad Religion, Muse and Snow Patrol.
Following the earlier reports of the demise of the Guitar Hero franchise and the possible end of the DJ Hero franchise, it is now clear there will be no DJ Hero 3 and there will also be no more new content for either Guitar Hero or DJ Hero after this month’s releases. Crikey, that’s a conclusive death nail in the music rhythm genre – and it only took around 24 hours to achieve.
…but at least there’s a PS3 release date of March 3 for the Black Ops DLC – First Strike.
However, I’m sure that doesn’t make the 500 people losing their jobs feel any better. It must be an even tougher pill to swallow considering Activision’s latest financial results – they certainly aren’t terrible. And to further rub salt in the wounds, the publishing giant has gone and axed some fan favourites in Guitar Hero, True Crime and possibly Tony Hawk and DJ Hero.
