Submissions are open for the MTN App of the Year Awards

Are you a budding app developer? Then perhaps it is time to get your app some recognition. The MTN App of the Year Awards are back for the eighth year and submissions are open.

The awards focus on a variety of categories and solutions including educational, financial and more. Of course, you are most likely a gamer if you are here, and in that regard you are covered. The Gaming Solution category made its first appearance in 2017, and in 2018 saw ACGL’s app walk away with the category award.

The App of the Year “aims to celebrate local talent and out-of-the-box thinking that drives disruption and change.” Winners can expect an “array of great prizes, massive media exposure and publicity to all of our entrants, finalists and winners.” Previous overall winners include SnapScan, Zapper, WumDrop, Eskom se Push, DSTV Now, Shyft and others.

The award ceremony is scheduled for late October, so expect submissions to close late September or early October.

We really do encourage any local developers with an app to consider entering the awards. There are plenty of opportunities to get your app in the hands of potential investors or other role-players via the awards, and may just lead to a life-changing connection.
