Sony to be investigated over patent copyright infringements

Sony will be investigated by the US International Trade Commission over a patent infringement case lodged against Sony by Taiwanese LCD manufacturer Chimei Innolux Corp.

The said infringement scrutinises the memory caching technologies that Sony uses in PlayStation 3, VAIO notebooks and Bravia range of screens, all of which Chimei says are patent copyright infringements and therefore filed against on the said products.

Things get really interesting in January though as the US International Trade Commission will also be hearing a separate allegation, filed by Sony against Chimei for copying patented Sony technology in its televised menu displays.

My money is with Sony though as Chimei has reportedly lost a few battles in court legal action which includes the three executives jailed for  a price-fixing scandal and… you guessed it, further copyright-infringement cases.
