Sony Release Move.me – New Software Tool to Support Development With Move

Sony has launched Move.me; a new software tool to support academia, researchers and programming hobbyists to make developing for the PlayStation Move platform more accessible. Move.me. is now will available from today for download in the UK and Europe.

Move.me reportedly enables the creation of applications that go beyond traditional gaming. Sony say Move.me extends the Move platform to “facilitate rapid prototyping of game and non-game concept”s on PCs by using PlayStation Move as an input device. It is also said to allow the Move controller to be used for greater experimentation beyond traditional gaming and idea generation, and so “opens the door for more advanced innovative research,” says Sony.

“Move.me is already being used by various universities in North America in cutting edge physical therapy and creative  design projects, so we’re eagerly anticipating what else is possible now we’ve extended its availability,” said Maria Stukoff, Head of Academic Development and Partnerships at SCEE.

“A BETA trial is already underway with academia across the UK and Europe, so we’re some expecting some exciting developments in the year ahead that really stretch the imagination.”

You can check out the Move.me application in action on the Playstation EU site.
